Sustainable and Healthy
Fresh spirulina is packed with nutrients: it is rich in vitamins and minerals such as iron, calcium, magnesium and potassium. It also contains carotenoids, antioxidants that can protect cells from damage.
In addition, spirulina has anti-inflammatory properties and can strengthen the immune system. Our spirulina is grown in the Netherlands in a controlled environment and freshly harvested.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is Spirulina?
Spirulina is a kind of blue-green micro-plant that contains proteins, antioxidants and other nutrients. Spirulina has a high concentration of chlorophyll, which gives it its distinctive green color. The blue color is caused by phycocyanin.
What do you mean by "fresh"?
Fresh really means freshly grown for us. Our spirulina is freshly harvested every week and delivered directly to our customers in the most natural form possible.
Our spirulina explicitly does not come from powder. So it is not dried and processed. It comes out of the bioreactor alive and is immediately packaged and/or frozen. It contains no additives and is therefore 100% natural.
How much fresh spirulina can I use?
The amount of fresh spirulina you can use per day depends on your age, gender and how active you are. And from which supplier you buy it.
Our spirulina is a product that is as natural as possible. You can't eat too much of it quickly, but just like with any other product: too much is not healthy either. It's a matter of trying out what works well for you.
There are guidelines, although these are different for each provider.
The guidelines for our fresh spirulina are:
- 15 - 30 grams per day for children
- 30 - 60 grams for adults
- 30 - 75 grams for people who exercise a lot
How do I take Supergenes spirulina?
You can easily add it to your breakfast, for example to your yogurt or smoothie and even to your coffee. The color of your breakfast will be dark green, but because fresh spirulina has a neutral taste, you will not taste it. Did you know that we also have very tasty recipes on our website to use it in? Here you will find them!
I think your products are pricey. How is the price determined?
Our long-term goal is to make fresh spirulina available to everyone at an accessible price. We believe 100% in the value for everyone! Unfortunately, production is relatively expensive at the moment, which is why this is not yet possible at the moment.
Why production is currently expensive is because:
- Our products are produced in the Netherlands with great care and attention. This is expensive compared to places abroad where the spirulina simply grows outside in the sun (but where there is a risk of toxic substances).
- Our supplier has been designing, testing and optimizing the production process for 10 years. This takes a lot of research time and money. And our price is of course again dependent on the purchase price.
- At the moment there are not enough orders to produce fresh spirulina on a large scale. As a result, the costs are relatively high.
